2024 Nuclear Plant Incident

WTOW did news of the situation with Josh Skillington at the mic. Skillington was alone and confused about what to do with the situation due to WTOW being in the radius of lockdown. Skillington would later get drunk and leave the station. After Skillington’s death, the station was run by remote and the next morning made an announcement that they will go “off-air.” The voice cited blame on the “liberal management” of the station, and how civil authorities handled the Ventana Plant Incident. The station went “off-air” with an automated countdown starting at 99,999.

  • WTOW’s automated countdown was inspired by WYCD’s format flip on 24 Dec 1992. It can be heard here. Robbie talks about it in one of his blog posts.
